What is Automated Application Equipment?

Many customers use so many handles that it is inefficient to apply the handles using manual labor. For this reason, PakTech designs, builds, installs and services machines that apply PakTech handle on-line at their plant. Check out our Applicator section for model details and to see video.

How does the equipment work?

Superbly. Basically, once bottles are filled, capped and labeled, they travel down a conveyor system either in a case or individually. Once the conveyor reaches PakTech’s machine, it applies handles as required by the customer. For example, a company needs 3 TwinPak handles in each of their cases (in a 6 bottle case), at a fairly low rate of speed. The open case of completed bottles will enter the PakTech applicator, where it is stopped and the machine's heads gently but swiftly press handles over the caps and into place. The case then leaves our applicator and heads down the line to be taped up and palletized for delivery. One case after another enters the applicator until the customer’s order is completed.

Does the Applicator get moved on and off the line as needed?

Not necessary. When not in use, the applicator has a ’thru-put’ capacity so it remains on the line, but cases pass through the machine without action. This allows the applicator to remain dialed-in and ready to go as needed.

Is there only one type of machine?

Not at all! Our customers have many, many requirements and we handle them all. For lower volumes or slower speeds, a customer may require a tool that assists with hand application, or they may want a semi-automatic machine for speeds up to 15 cases per minute. For higher volume, faster lines, our intermittent motion models can apply handles at the rates of up to 35 cases per minute. And for fast, high volume lines, machines apply handles at a continuous motion rate- up to 225 bottles per minute.

Are the machines expensive?

Our Application Equipment is priced very reasonably. Naturally, the faster and more complex the machine, the higher the cost. However, because the machines tend to reflect our customer’s volume needs, the ’pay back’ of expenditures is quick. Again, please talk to our Sales staff further to get a specific quotation based on your specific needs.

Once installed, what about servicing?

PakTech designs, builds, installs and SERVICES our equipment so you will not be without 24/7 support. We also provide spare parts and have an extensive training program to help educate your senior maintenance. We strongly believe this helps keep servicing costs and maintenance issues at a minimum.
